The more you play, the more you will be able to read players as they almost always fall into some sort of pattern that makes it easy for you to predict their hand. For example, many players instantly raise before their strong hands like AA, KK, and AK. These are the players who reveal too much information about the style in which they play to make it easy for opponents to recognize this. Keep a look out for betting patterns. Most players will bet the same type of hands the exact same way every time. If you are able to pick up on this it will drastically improve your game. Always vary the way you play as this will also get picked up by your opponents. Always keep your opponents guessing, that is the key. Never become too predictable. Players who never pay attention will hardly ever notice anything you do differently, so just play simple straightforward poker against them. Another good reason to pay close attention to the game is to compare how a hand was played in the past to the present. Has a player who usually checks and calls is now raising? You need to answer these questions to be able to recognize and read different situations at the poker table. Poker is a thinking man's game. To become successful at playing poker, you have to always be one step ahead of your opponents at all times. If you continue practicing these tips and suggestions, you will be successful in reading other poker players like an open book. |
