Many people know solitaire from playing it on their computers. But there is more to solitaire than meets the eye. Versions Of SolitaireThe most popular version is called Klondike Solitaire. This is the version that people usually refer to as just plain "solitaire". Pyramid solitaire is another version that starts with the cards dealt in the shape of a pyramid or triangle. Another version of solitaire that is usually played online is called FreeCell. FreeCell is an intriguing game which requires that the player plans several moves ahead. FreeCell definitely demands more skill and mental thinking than Klondike does. The Aim of SolitaireThe aim of Solitaire is to single out the four suits, in sequence, against the luck of the shuffle. The game is usually played with 1 or 2 deck of cards. Cards are placed on the table in a tableau arrangement. All the cards of a certain rank form the support on which the suits are built. Play continues until the game is won or until further play is not possible. Although the names of game varies, the more popular solitaires include Klondike (probably the best known), Canfield (named for Richard A. Canfield, an American gambler). In double solitaire, which requires 2 players, each plays his own game of either Klondike or Canfield, but each can add on his opponent's or your own aces. The object is to play the greater number of cards to the center. |
